Fire in the Evergreens

“Fire in the Evergreens” is the third album from San Francisco Bay Area band, Westerly. Its Americana songs layer three-part harmonies over soundscapes that range from drum-driven rock songs to soulful ballads and reflective hymns. Rooted in the traditions of folk writers such as Joan Baez and Leonard Cohen, the album tells a story of spirituality, love, and the political climate of the Bay. But this not a retrospective album; Westerly’s sound is influenced by the Bay’s R&B, punk, and indie scene to create a San Francisco sound for a new era of love and protest.
